Learning to control your emotions may take time but it is not impossible. Here are some ways you can practice emotional control.
– Regulating but not suppressing. Emotions need to be expressed and not repressed. So make sure you are heard but before doing so, plan properly and be aware of what you are about to say and the consequences it may have.
– Analyze the types of emotions you are feeling. Don’t give in to the pressure of what people want you to do, instead focus on what you want. Do you really want to take the drastic step and attract unnecessary attention? Or do you want to reflect a little more and take time to answer?
– Identify your emotions. Know what you are feeling and ask yourself whether the response you want to give is necessary.
– Deep breathing can also be a great way to manage your emotions.
Remember, the goal should be to control your emotions and direct them effectively rather than letting your emotions control you.
