No formula! Just logic and a few computational actions. To determine the logic, look again at all the clocks and calculate the time difference between each clock. There are definitely some patterns here!
9:05 and 8:53 – difference is 12 minutes.
8:53 and 8:29 – the difference is now 24 minutes.
8:29 and 7:53 – difference of 36 minutes.
So to determine the time on the last clock, subtract 48 minutes from 7:53 and you get 7:05.
