Helping children understand that stress is inevitable but that there are appropriate ways to manage it is an important life skill. Adults need to model healthy ways to cope with stress by implementing strategies that can help break down big problems into smaller, manageable parts; letting go of things that are not in our control; identify triggers and discuss one’s fears and concerns with someone you trust; follow a routine; get enough rest, eat right, exercise, etc. Conversations can change lives, they help us become more comfortable with topics and with each other, reducing stigma and awkwardness , helps build new connections and deepen existing ones. The higher the level of social interaction, the better our ability to accept differences, navigate discord and build resilience.
