Meditation has become a fancy word in today’s world. Why has it become so popular? People today are more conscious about their mental health and wellness. That’s why, they jump from practice to practice, from meditation to chanting to mindfulness, when all they have to do is go within and discover what they are so grateful for. search.
What is meditation?
“Meditation is an important Spiritual practice,” said AiR Atman at Ravi, Spiritual Leader and Founder of AiR Implementation Institute and AiR Enlightenment Center. It is necessary so that we can grow on our Spiritual journey and achieve Enlightenment. Meditation is essentially silence. It means to quiet the mind. It helps us overcome cravings of the body, mind and ego. It not only helps us become calm and peaceful but also brings us to a state of consciousness or mindfulness.” “Consciousness is a state without a mind – a bundle of thoughts, just a state in which the intellect is activated and we are enlightened with the truth – the truth of who we truly are and the truth of God. Meditation helps us connect with our true self, which inevitably connects us with the Universal Consciousness, the Supreme Immortal Power, SIP, whom we call God. Meditation leads us to true happiness, peace and joy. It takes us to the state of Satchitananda, which is living in the Consciousness of Truth, which is eternal bliss,” he added.
Eliminate clutter within yourself
When we hear the word ‘meditation’, we immediately form an image in our mind. Image of a saint or monk. We often associate meditation with sainthood but that is not true. Anyone can practice meditation, wear anything, and have any style. People also believe that if you want to meditate, you must sit cross-legged on the floor, motionless, with your spine absolutely straight. These are all basic misconceptions. According to Ravi, “Meditation is not how we sit, where we sit or our posture. One can comfortably sit on a chair and meditate. Meditation is about quieting the mind, making it silent. We should focus on disciplining the mind. Meditation is about quieting the mind, removing the noise, eliminating all noise so that we can hear the divine voice.”
Keeping your mind quiet is a challenge
Our mind is like a monkey. Just as a monkey jumps from one branch to another, our minds also jump from one thought to another – yesterday’s sad and regretful thoughts to tomorrow’s worries. It makes us miserable by creating negative thoughts such as fear, anxiety, stress, envy, jealousy and even depression. Our mind is a thought factory, where thoughts appear practically, every second. It can generate up to 50 thoughts a minute, and that number can become an overwhelming 50,000 thoughts a day. These constant negative thoughts create anxiety and stress in us. We must reduce our MTR or Mental Thought Rate from 50 thoughts a minute to one thought a minute.
How can we reduce the speed of mental thinking?
MTR can be reduced through meditation. Meditation observes the mind and helps us slow down our mental thinking. We must observe the mind, grasp and hold on to it. In doing so, we become observers, witnesses because we become aware of our own minds. Once the mind is disciplined, our wisdom is awakened. Wisdom helps us distinguish between true and false thoughts, truth and myth. It is in this state of lack of thought or consciousness that we can attain enlightenment to the truth. We realize who we are – we are not this body, mind and ego. “We are divine souls, a spark of unique life. We realize that God is not a man or a saint but a power, the Supreme Immortal Power, SIP and we are part of that Power. Just as a wave emerges from the ocean and merges with it, the Soul also emerges from the SIP and merges with it. We also realize that everyone has a soul. God is everywhere and in everything. Everything is a manifestation of the divine,” Ravi said.
Seek enlightenment
Meditation is the key to spiritual enlightenment. If we seek enlightenment, we must start meditating every day. We can start by meditating for 10 minutes a day and gradually increase over time. The time will come when we meditate all day, we will be in a state of consciousness, experiencing true peace and happiness. It is in this state that we can connect with our true self, with divine consciousness. When the mind becomes quiet, we feel peace. Peace is the foundation of happiness.
Takeout
According to Ravi, “Meditation helps a lot in improving focus and concentration. It is also known to help people fight depression. It creates positivity. Negative thoughts are replaced with positive thoughts.” Regular meditation leads to a state of lack of thought or consciousness, where the mind is activated and with the discriminating power of the mind, we can make the right decisions. Therefore, meditation is one of the paths by which humans can have the ultimate Spiritual experience – enlightenment!
