Is it possible to catch all the fish in a lake in just 15 minutes? We are sure many of you will think the answer is “no”. But it was this small village that proved us wrong.
Right near the village of Bamba in northern Dogon, Mali, there is a small sacred lake. Fishing is allowed there only once a year. And it was a very interesting event. You are allowed to go fishing that day in a unique ceremony called Antogo.
This area was once a paradise covered with greenery and lakes that completely provided fish for the locals. Despite climate change turning the area around Bamba into a barren desert, the small lake still has fish.
The government set up a special day so people could fish on their own. The lake would completely dry out in fifteen minutes as people flocked there to try to catch as many fish as possible.
In the photos shared you can see how it all happened and what happened there. There are hundreds, thousands of people doing the same thing.
We hope this was interesting for you to read and watch. Don’t forget to share this with your family and friends.
