Beware! Your go-to French fries may be linked to anxiety and depression, new research suggests

French fries are a favorite dish of many people. These potato wedges that are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside are often served as a side dish to main dishes like burgers, tacos, and pasta. Usually, a quick meal wouldn’t be complete without French fries. However, there is bad news for French fry lovers. A research team in Hangzhou, China, found that regular consumption of fried foods, especially French fries, was associated with a 12% higher risk of anxiety and a 7% higher risk of depression than for people who do not eat fried foods.
