Postal truck driver loves being photographed with his clients’ dogs

In every job there are negative and positive aspects, often not obvious. For Jason Hardesty, who works for UPS Post Office, it’s the fact that he can be photographed with his customers’ dogs. In fact, it’s more than just a hobby – it’s what he loves about his job!

It started out very trivially – one day, a cute puppy came to a customer, asked Jason for permission to pet it, take a photo and upload it online. The photo received a lot of likes and he then decided to continue making it. And then the pandemic and quarantine hit, people started ordering home delivery, and he had more work to do. Jason usually leaves his packages on the porch so he doesn’t come into contact with the people living in the house, but the dogs that greet him are a different story!

He has no favorites, too many worthy candidates to choose easily. Jason goes to many addresses all the time and the dogs wait for him and are happy. They were all willing to pose for the camera and show positivity, which is so important in these times. Not a week goes by where another photo doesn’t receive a ton of likes and jealous comments – lucky for some!

Puppies are always happy, Jason reasoned. Even so, there were still some things that went wrong, like one time a very small dog jumped out to get a package. He was afraid of strangers and when Jason picked him up, the puppy excitedly peed on him. It’s embarrassing, but it’s okay. Now it’s fun to remember!

Meeting the dogs was a bonus, Jason thought. He is happy to have in-demand work and the opportunity to travel around the country and meet different people. That’s what makes life happy.
